HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD
FEBRUARY 11, 1988 MEETING

This Breakfast Meeting was held at the Colony Hotel, Delray Beach, at 8:00 A.M.
The meeting was called to order and minutes of the January 14th meeting were
approved.
Mr. Mayhew introduced Mr. Walter Barry, the new City Manager.
Mr. Barry gave a brief summary of his past history. He informed the Board that
he was very much for Historic Preservation. He also told the Board some of
the changes he would like to see in Delray Beach.
Mr. Mayhew informed the Board that the City Commission approved the Old School
Square Historic District.
Mr. Nathanson suggested that a letter be sent to the residents of Old School
Square, Nassau Park and Del-Ida Park informing them what the Historic
Preservation was all about.
Pat Healy suggested that the Board have a workshop around Old School Square
and invite the homeowners.
Mr. Mayhew announced that Del-Ida Park would be having their public hearing
on February 11, 1988 at 7:00 P.M. at the Trinity Luthern Church.
March 15, 1988 is the dead line for the Palm Beach Community Foundation Grant
Application. Mr. Mayhew will be making up an application for the Board on
specific workshop having to do with Old School Square. He asked the Board to
contribute their input on this grant application.
Mr. Nathanson suggested that a letter be sent to Lula Butler of Community
Development regrading funding to assist homeowners.
Work will begin on Cason Cottage upon approval of the City Commission on
February 23, 1988. It will be ready to be turn over to the Historic Society
60 days later. All questions should be through Lula Butler's office.

Mr. Mayhew reminded the Board that the first week of April will be the Mizner
Symposium at Town Hall in Boca Raton.
Mr. Mayhew informed the Board that he has been in touch with the architect
and developer of Nassau Park. The developer needs to obtain several releases
from the property before they can go ahead and sign an agreement.
Mr. Mayhew announced the restoration of the Train Station. The sign is up
and there is lighting on the tracks.
Mr. Johnson requested that a treasurer's report and flow chart be obtain by
the next meeting. He also announced that March is the time to make budget
requests for the next year. David Nathanson will get the reports ready.
Mr. Mayhew announced that the CLG Application was completed and turn over to
Mayor Campbell for signature.
The next meeting will be on March 10th at 8:00 A.M. in City Hall. Mary McCarty
will be the guest. She will outline plans to make Delray Beach an Art Cultural
Center.
There being no further business, the Meeting was adjourned.
