After being audited the several bills were reported back to the Council by Mr. SnYYidy; from the Finance Committee with the recommendation that they-% be paid. The Mayor presented to the Council in writing,the ,~~ resignation of J. C. Johnson sa a member of that body, and suggested the advisability of immediately filling the vacancy by the Council. The Council proceeded to ballot for a ancceaeor to- Mr. Jhhnson, to serveruntil-the nest regular election,; A count ^ot the ballots showed' that A: G. Evans had' received `~ ~~} four votes, and he vras,by thelMayor`, declared duly elected to the Council to serve sa the successor of J. C. Johnson Y until the nest regular election.
