he Council met in regular ad~oarned session, the
presiding. Councilmen present were Mr. Jacobs,
. Keen, Mr. Ranson,'Mr. Scott, and Mr. Sundy.
Mr. George oP. Jonas, representing the Palm Beach
Improvement Company submitted a request in writing to
the Council asking for a proposition by which electric
would be furnished the company for a develop_
proposition on the ocean front three miles from the
southern line of the city drawn due east to the ocean.
Mr: Jnoas further personally explained his desires ~u
the Council and requested consideration of the matter
an early response. The Council promised consider-
tion.
Mr. Strunk, representing'Fairbanka, Morse do Company

appeared before the Council and explained in detail the

lease sys~e~"''and contract of the Company , having in
mind the acquisition by the city of a 50 H.P. engine,
and gave in detail figures of the approximate cast of
the machinery under the lease system and the terms of ?'
rental payments. ~'
On motion oP Mr. Keen, seconded by Mr. Sundy, the

Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign a contract
with Fai~phks, Morse & Company in accordance with thB~ ~`
proposition..of Mr. Strunk for consideration at the next ~:~.
regular meet of the Council with view of ratification
by ordinance,, roll call, the motion was adopted those

voting it the affirmative being Mr, Keen, Mr. Ranson,
Mr. Scott, and Mr. Sundy, tdr. Jacobs did not vote.
Bar. O. Helland submitted to the Council a verbal
request for a contract with the City far a term of
three gears by which he would be furnished electric
current to operate a 35 H. P. motor, a 2 H.P. motor,
and a 1 H.P. motor, twenty four hour service, at his
ice plant, at a flat rate of ~10 per day, seven days
per week, the contract to be terminated by the city if
it was so desired after it was ascertained that the

current could not be furnished for said compensation
upon giving 60 days notice and the purchase of the
electrical equipment installed in'view of the aceep~
tance of this proposal,less proper deducgions for

A motion by Mr. Keen that it is the sense of the
Council that the proposal of Mr. HeTland be accepted

and that the Clerk draw a contract embodying the .terms ~3
of the. proposition to be submitted to the Council for g
approval,. was unanimously adopted. ~`
On motion of Mr. .Jacobs, seconded by Mr. Scott,
George A. Long was employed as engineer to make a

tracing and blue prints of the existing water system,
