August 24, 2020City Commission Minutes - Final
Pursuant to Executive Order 20-69, during the COVID-19 State of Emergency, City Commission
meetings may be held virtually. Members of the public wishing to view City Commission meetings
should log into the City’s website, https://www.delraybeachfl.gov/i-want-to/watch/city-meetings, where
the meeting will be live-streamed for the public.
Pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter of the City of Delray Beach the Mayor has instructed me to
announce a Special Meeting of the City Commission to be held for the following purposes:
Mayor Shelly Petrolia, Deputy Vice Mayor Shirley Ervin Johnson, Commissioner
Adam Frankel, Vice-Mayor Ryan Boylston, and Commissioner Juli Casale

SP.1.TO SCHEDULE A SHADE MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION IN
ANTICIPATION OF UPCOMING LABOR NEGOTIATIONS.

Interim City Manager, Jennifer Alvarez City Attorney, Lynn Gelin
City Clerk, Katerri Johnson
Mayor Petrolia asked her fellow Commissioners for their availability next
week to schedule a date for the Shade Meeting.
City Attorney Gelin stated that the Commission would request a Shade
Meeting pursuant to Florida Statute No. 447.605 and 286.011 in relation to
collective bargaining negotiations between the City of Delray Beach and
the International Association of Firefighters. The meeting will require the
attendance of the Commissioners, City Attorney Gelin, Interim City
Manager Ms. Alvarez, Human Resources Director Mr. D’Andrea, Finance
Director Ms. Kalka, and Chief Tomey, Fire Chief.
There was consensus to schedule the Shade Meeting on Thursday,
September 3, at 9:00 a.m.
Vice Mayor Boylston motioned to approve the date of the meeting. It was
seconded by Deputy Vice Mayor Johnson. A roll call vote was taken, and
the motion carried by the following vote:
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 1:19
p.m.
