1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Petrolia called the Annual Organizational/Regular meeting to order at
4:15 p.m. The roll call was taken by the City Clerk.
2. ROLL CALL

City Clerk Johnson swore in Juli Casale as the newly elected City
Commissioner for Seat #2.

City Clerk Johnson swore in Shirley Ervin Johnson as the newly re-elected
City Commissioner for Seat #4.

After the swearing in ceremony, Mayor Petrolia presented both individuals
with flowers and welcomed them to their new positions.

Roll call of the newly sworn-in City Commission was taken by the City
Clerk.

11. COMMENTS AND INQUIRIES ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS:
A. City Manager
City Manager Gretsas stated that the City of Delray Beach is following
the guidelines set forth on a daily basis by the County’s Emergency
Operations Center, County Health Department and Administration, as
well as the CDC. Mr. Gretsas went on to thank the City workers who are
putting themselves in harms way to do their job and protect the citizens
of Delray Beach. Mr. Gretsas answered questions from the
Commission.
Mayor Petrolia stated that she is very grateful for all the workers on the
front line.
Commissioner Johnson expressed concern that she would like to see
more skills training for the unemployed in hopes of making them more
valuable in the workplace.
B. City Attorney
None.
C. City Commission
Commissioner Frankel reported the following:
·Congratulated Commissioner Juli Casale and Deputy Vice
Mayor Shirley Johnson and thanked Commissioner Bathurst for
his tenure.
·Expressed his gratitude to all the city officials and employees for
all of their hard work during this time.
·Suggested to the commissioners to possibly put together a gift
for the hospital workers.
·Apologized for a comment that was taken out of context by a
newspaper writer.
Deputy Vice Mayor Johnson reported the following:
·Stated she was sad that her family and supporters were unable
to come out and celebrate with her due to the current state.
·Stated that the residents of Delray Beach are strong and
resilient.

·Thanked her supporters during the recent election.
·Congratulated Commissioner Casale and Vice Mayor Boylston.
Vice Mayor Boylston reported the following:
·Thanked Commissioner Bathurst for his work.
·Congratulated Commissioner Casale and Deputy Vice Mayor
Johnson.
·Thanked city staff and City Manager Gretsas for all their work.
·Commented that he will be on the COVID-19 update broadcast.
Mayor Petrolia reported the following:
·Thanked Commissioner Bathurst for his service and newly
elected Juli Casale.
·Asked Vice Mayor Boylston if he would serve as the back-up
seat on the TPA for the Mayor, as needed.
·Thanked John Brewer for coordinating area restaurants that are
open by getting takeout orders to City residents.
·Suggested online sites that are helping local businesses also.
·The Food Give Away at Catherine Strong Park.
·Shared the City hotline number for COVID-19 information.
With no further business to discuss, Mayor Petrolia adjourned the
meeting at 5:15 p.m.
