52nd Extension State of Emergency - COVID -19 CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA FIFTY-SECOND EXTENSION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Florida Governor Ron Desantis, in accordance with Article IV Section (1)(a) of the Florida Constitution and Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, promulgated Emergency Order 20-52 to declare a state of emergency in the State of Florida due to Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19); and WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, the Delray Beach City Commission declared a state of emergency in accordance with Chapter 95 of the City of DelrayBeach Code of Ordinances; and WHEREAS, the City Manager for the City of Delray Beach, pursuant to the authority granted in Chapter 95, has continuously executed timely extensions to theCity’s local state of emergency declaration in accordance with FloridaStatute 252.38(3)(a), which provides that the duration of each state of emergency declared locally is limited to seven (7) days and may be extended, as necessary, in 7-day increments; and WHEREAS, the spread of COVID-19 continues to seriously affect the safety and security of the lives of the citizens of Delray Beach and the public at large; and WHEREAS, the widespread effects of COVID-19 continue to require extraordinary and immediate actions by the City of Delray Beach in order to protect the public health, safety, welfare and renders extension of the state of emergency necessary for the statutorily authorized seven (7) day period. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jennifer Alvarez, Interim City Manager of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, pursuant to Section 95.05(A)of the Code of Ordinances, do hereby declare an extension to the state of emergency for the City of Delray Beachfor an additional seven (7) day period pursuant to Florida Statute 252.38(3)(a), and further declare that all proper and lawful actions necessary to swiftly resolve the emergency and return the community to a condition of normalcy shall be taken.
