WHEREAS, on July 4, 1776, the historic American Declaration of
Independence announced all the thirteen colonies in North America as
"Free and Independent States"; and
WHEREAS, this day onward, July 4th came to be celebrated asthe American Independence Day and the nation's birthday; and
WHEREAS, we offer our gratitude to all the American patriots, past
and present, who have sought to advance freedom and lay the
foundations of peace; and
WHEREAS, all people and races and groups and nations,
everywhere in the world remain full of hope and promise where
opportunity thrives; and
WHEREAS, we stand with America and continue to proclaim
liberty throughout the world where our freedoms are celebrated.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SHELLY PETROLIA, Mayor of the City of
Delray, Florida, on behalf of the City Commission, do hereby proclaim
July 4, 2021, as:
Independence Day
and encourage all citizens of Delray Beach to observe this holiday with
celebration of life and liberty.
