RAY DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA MANAGER 33444 April 4, 1969 Mr. R. H. Abbott, Director Planning and Zoning and Building Inspections City of Delray Beach P. O. Box 2469 Delray Beach, Florida 33444 Re: URD Ordinance Dear Mr. Abbott: In confirmation of our conversation of April 3, the I/RD ordinance that is presently coming before the City Commission for approval is for direct buried services for residential and duplex type buildings. At the present time under the present codes, this type of service is not covered. This is why we have requested the City of Delray Beach to pass the URD ordinance. We do not use any direct buried services to commercial and industrial buildings for the simple reason that they are normally three-phase services with large load requirements and require primary underground feed into transformer vaults or large overhead services. We are, in fact, at the present time installing underground feeds to industrial and commercial buildings which are covered under present coding. I can assure you and the Commission that the passage of this URD ordinance is in no way discriminatory to the industrial and commercial buildings. An example of a commercial application would be the new Quality Court building at the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Boulevard. We will have an underground primary feed from our overhead facilities to the transformer vault. I trust that this information will be satisfactory. If I can be of further help, please call me. Very truly yours, W. Ray~ ~w/Manager JWR:ag
