Moore, ICMA-CM, City Manager PURPOSE A formal award program has been established to recognize and honor employees for their years of service to the City of Delray Beach and to recognize and honor retirees and those who have served on the City Commission. POLICY A. SERVICE AWARDS • Service Awards will begin after five (5) years of continuous City service as a full-time or part-time employee and continue in five (5) year increments based on the employee's most recent date of hire. • Each Service Award recipient will receive a letter of congratulations from the City Manager and an invitation to attend an upcoming recognition ceremony. A ceremony will be held each quarter to honor eligible employees. • A framed certificate will be presented to each service award recipient. A gift will be designated for each category of years of service. The gift for part-time employees will be one level below the gift designated for full-time employees. • Employees will be honored as full-time or part-time based on the employee's status at the time of the Service Award anniversary date. • Employees who resign or retire from the City and are rehired on a full-time or part-time basis will be honored at five (5) years of service from the employee's new date of hire. When determining the gift level of these employees, previous years of service will be added to current years of service and the gift level closest to, but not exceeding, the total years of service will be awarded. The Human Resources Department will be responsible for calculating the employee's total years of service. • Employees with 30 years of continuous full-time service will be honored by the City Commission with a resolution and plaque. Service and Retirement Awards PER-3 Rev. 5 Page 2 of 2 honored with a bronze plate • Employees with 35 years or more of continuous full-time service will be o affixed to the wall in front of the flagpoles at City Hall. B. RETIREE AWARDS • City employees who retire under one of the City's pension or ICMA plans, are receiving retirement benefits when they leave, have a minimum of ten (10) years of service, and leave the City in good standing will receive a retiree award plaque. C. CITY COMMISSION AWARDS • Those who are elected and serve as City Mayor and leave the position in good standing will be recognized with an engraved plaque that features a key to the City and their photograph. • Those who are elected and serve as City Commissioner and leave the position in good standing will be recognized with an engraved plaque similar to the City employee retiree plaque. • Individuals who are appointed to temporarily fill the role of Commissioner will be recognized with a framed certificate. Funding requirements for employee service awards, retiree awards and City Commission awards will be calculated annually during the budgetary process.
