G-531(12-64) ORDINANCE NO. G-531. AN ~ERG~CY ORDINANCE 0F THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPERSEDING ORDINANCE NO. G-125 CODIFIED AS SEC. ~-~, CODE OF ORDINANCES, D~RAY BEACN, FLORIDA, ~PERTAINING TO THE HO~RS OF SELLING AND SERVING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, DURING THAT PERIOD FROM MARCH 9, 1964 TO APRIL 30, 196~. WHEREAS, Section ~-#, of the Code of Ordinences of this City makes it unlawful for any pearson to sell, serve, consume, or deliver alcoholic beverages over 1% by weight between the hours of 2:00 o'clock A,M, to 2:00 P.M, on Sundays; 12:0I o'clock A.M. to 7:00 o'clock A.M. o~ Mondays; and 2:00 o'clock A.M. tO 7:00 o' cl~ck A.~. o~ ~uesdays through Saturdays; and WHEREAS, the City is presently enjoying a remarkable winter seaso~ as a result of the variety of attract$ons which this communitF offers to winter residents and tourists; and WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Oouncil that the legal hours of sale in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach are considerably more liberal; and WHEREAS, several bar owners in Delray Beach have Snformed the City Council that their businesses are at a competitive dis- advantage to similar establishments in our neighboring cities, and the local bar owners have requested that the legal hours of Sale be extended in this City du~ing the period from November 1 to April 30 each year: a~d WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to extend the existing legal hours on a trial er experimental basis for this winter season only: NOW. THER~ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLOridA, AS FOLLOWS; Section 1. Subsection (a) of Section $-$ Code of Ordinances ~f the City of Delray Beach, Florida, is hereby superseded from this date to and through April Section 2. From t~his date to and through April 30, 1964, it shall be unlawful for any person to sell or serve, or permit to be sold or served any alcoholic beverage containing over one percent of alcohol by weight, in the City during the following hours: (a) ~:00 o'clock A.M. to 12:O1 o'clock P.M. on Sundays, and 4:00 o'clock A.~i. to 7:00 o'91ock A.M, on Mondays through Saturdays. This Ordinance shall apply only during the perio~ herein mentioned and shall no longer have any force or effect after April 30, 196~. PA~ED and ADOPTED this 9th day of March, 196~, to be effective immediately.
