A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH,FLORIDA,APPROVING AN IMPACT EVENT
KNOWN AS THE 36TH ANNUAL DOWNTOWN DELRAY BEACH
FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS TO BE HELD JANUARY 11-12,2025:
AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF ATLANTIC A VENUE AS MORE
SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED HEREIN;AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION;PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DA TE,AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Delray Beach recognizes the importance of special
events and the opportunities they provide to promote community welfare,improve the quality of life of
residents and visitors,build a sense of community,provide enriched cultural opportunities,draw visitors to
the City and contribute to the local economy;and
WHEREAS,the City of Delray Beach Special Event Policy defines "impact events"as special events
that require City Commission approval as a result of certain characteristics such as their potential to
significantly disrupt the regular function of the area of the City in which they will be held or their need to
close one or more major roadways in the City;and
WHEREAS,the City of Delray Beach,Florida received a Special Event Application (the
"Application")from Howard Alan Events seeking approval for the 36th Annual Downtown Delray
Beach Festival of the Arts to be held January 11-12,2025 (the "Event").
WHEREAS,specifically,the Application requests the closure of Atlantic Avenue from NW 5th
A venue to Swinton A venue.
WHEREAS,the Application was reviewed and recommended for approval by the City's Special
Event Technical Advisory Committee at their March 7,2024 meeting;and
WHEREAS,the Application was further reviewed and recommended for approval by the City's
Development Services Management Group at their April 11,2024 meeting;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission has reviewed and considered the impacts to the City of
the requested major road closure of the 36th Annual Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section I.The above recitals are incorporated as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2.The City Commission approves the impact event known as the 36th Annual Downtown
Delray Beach Festival of the Arts to be held on January 11-12,2025.finding that it provides sufficient public
benefits and is consistent with the City's Special Event Policy.
Section 3.The City Commission approves the closure of Atlantic Avenue from NW 5th Ave to
Swinton Ave on January 11-12,2025 for the Event.
Section 4.The City Commission authorizes the City Manager to take any and all actions necessary
to effectuate the intent of this Resolution.
Section 5.This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
