A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH,FLORIDA,AUTHORIZING A SPECIAL EVENT
SPONSORSHIP IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,000 FOR THE
SPECIAL EVENT KNOWN AS MUSCLE ON THE BEACH TO BE
HELD ON MARCH I,2025;AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION;AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE,AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to sponsor special events in the City of Delray Beach
("City")that provide a public purpose in alignment with the City's Special Events Policy;and
WHEREAS,the City received a Special Event Sponsorship Request from George Walden (the
"Applicant")requesting the City to sponsor Muscle on the Beach (the "Special Event")to be held
on March I,2025 on and around the Old School Square Campus;and
WHEREAS,the Applicant has requested a waiver of all soft costs related to the provision of City
services for the event,currently estimated at $5,927.45;and
WHEREAS,the Applicant provided a Statement of Public Purpose,attached hereto and
incorporated herein as Exhibit "A",which anticipates a profit in the amount of $60,000 to be donated
to Sandoway Discovery Center,a Delray Beach Based non-profit;and
WHEREAS,the City Commission has reviewed the Special Event Sponsorship Request
application and considered whether the Special Event will provide a public purpose that is in alignment
with the Special Events Policy.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.The above recitals are incorporated as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2.The City Commission has considered the Special Event Sponsorship
Request application and finds that Muscle on the Beach to be held on March I,2025,provides a public
benefit consistent with the City's Special Event Policy.
Section 3.The City Commission approves the request for sponsorship submitted by Ge orge
W a Id en in an amount not to exceed $8,000.
Section 4.The City Commission authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement consistent
with the approval herein and to take any and all actions necessary to effectuate the intent of this Resolution.
Section 5.This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
