IN~RMATION CONC~NING SUCH DEATHS OR INDIES.
BE IT O~AIN~ by the Ci~y Council of ~he City of Delray~'
Beach, Florida, as follows:
SEOTION 1. The driver of any vehicle involved In an acct-
den~ In ~he city and resulting in injury ~o or death of any person
or ~lm~, including, bu~ no~ being limited ~o dogs and cats, shall
lmmedia~ely s~op such vehicle a~ ~he scene of such acciden~, or as
close ~here~o as possible, and shall forthwi~h re~urn
every even~ sh~l remain a~ the scene of ~he acclden~ un,il he has
fulfilled ~he requirements of SecZio~ 2. of ~his Ordinance. ~ery
such $~ep s~ll be made wiZhout obstruc~ing traffic more Z~n
necessary.
SEOTION 2.
a. Aid ~o. person~. The driver of any vehicle involved
an accident in ~he city, resulting In injury ~o any person, shall
render ~o ~he person injured In such accident reasonable assistanceS,
including the carrying or m~ing arr~gemen~s for the carrying of
such person ~o a physici~, surgeon or hospital for medical or
surgical treatmen~ If It ls apparent ~hat such ~rea~men~ is neces-
~sary or if such carrying is requested by the injured person, and
In the case of a person killed In such accident, shall render
reasonable aid and aasls~ce in ob~ainin~ the prompZ removal of
~he deceased person ~o an under~lng esZablis~en~ or morgue.
b. Aid ~o ~n%m~s. The driver of any vehicle involved
an accident In ~he cl~y, resulting in injury to any ~lmal, lnclud-,
lng, bu~ no~ bei~ limited ~o dogs and ca~s, sh~l render ~o ~he
animal injured In such acclden$ reasonable assis~ance, including
~he carrying or making arr~gemen~s for ~he carrying of such animal
~o a veterinarian or ~o an ~im~ hospital for medic~ or surgical
~rea~men~, or in ~he case of an animal killed In such acciden~,
shall render reasonable aid ~nd assistance in ob~aining ~he prompZ
removal of such animal to the Animal Rescue League, the location
of which may be obtained at the City Hall.
c. ~o. rma.tlon given in case o~.lnJury to or death, of
persons or.damage to certain vehicles. It shall also be the duty
of the driver of any vehicle involved in an accident in the city,
resulting in injury to or the death of any person, or damage to
any vehicle which is driven or attended by any person, to give
his name, address and the registration number of the vehicle he
is driving, and, upon request, to exhibit his operstor's or chauf-
feur's license to the person struck, or the driver or occupant of
or person attending any vehicle collided with.
d. Information given ~n. case ~f ln~ur~ to or..~e~t~ _of
animals. It shall also be the duty of the driver of any vehicle
involved in mn accident In the city, resulting in injury to or the
death of any animal, including, but not being limited to dogs and
cats, to diligently endeavor to locate and notify the owner of suc~
animal, or the person having custody thereof, of such fact; to
give his name, address and the registration number of the vehicle
he is driving; the name and address of the owner of such vehicle;
and, upon request, to exhibit his operatorts or chauffeur's llcens~
to the owner or person having the custody of such animal.
~. SECTION 3. The driver of a vehicle involved in an acclden~
in the city, resulting in injury to or death of any person or ani-
mal, including, but not being limited to dogs and cats, or damage
to another vehicle or other property, shall immediately and by the
quickest means of communication, give notice of such accident to t~e
police department of ~he oltyl
SECTION 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of
this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a
fine not exceeding $500.00 or by imprisonment for a period not
exceeding ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, in
the discretion of the Municipal Court.
