AN ORDINANCE PROV ID i NG AND REGULAT I NG THE REGI STRATI ON
OF ALL PERSONS, FIRMS AND CORPORATIONS ENGAGED IN A
BUSINESS, PROFESSION OR OCCUPATION IN THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, FIXING THE LICENSE TAXES FOR
THE YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER I, 1946, AND FOR EACH
SUCCEEDING YEAR UNT IL REPEALED, REGULAT I NG AND
RESTRICTING LICENSES APPLIED FOR AFTER OCTOBER I OF
EVERY YEAR.- PROVIDING TERMS UNDER ',M-IICH SUCH LICENSES
MAY BE OBTAINED: REGULATING THE CARRYING ON OF BUSINESS
UNDER SUCH LICENSES, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE.
II/I-IEREAS AN EMERGENCY EXISTS IN THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH AND IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE
PRESERVATION OF PUBLIC PEACE AND SAFETY THAT A NEW OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE ORDINANCE BE PUT
INTO EFFECT AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, AS

SECTION I: No PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION SHALL ENGAGE IN OR UANAGE ANY BUSINESS)
PROFESSION OR OCCUPATION MENTIONED IN THIS ORDINANCE~ UNLESS A CITY LICENSE SHALL HAVE
BEEN PROCURED FROM THE CITY TAX COLLECTOR OF THE CiTY OF DELRAY BEACH. ONE LICENSE SHALL
SE ISSUED TO EACH PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION UPON RECEIPT OF THE AMOUNT HEREINAFTER
PROVIDED IN THIS ORDINANCE AND SUCH LICENSE SHALL SE SIGNED IN THE NAME OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA~ SY THE TAX COLLECTOR AND SHALL HAVE THE CITY SEAL THEREON.
SECTION 2: No LICENSE SHALL BE ISSUED FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR AND ALL LICENSES
SHALL EXPIRE ON THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER OF EACH YEAR, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED
IN THIS ORDINANCE. ALL BUSINESS LICENSES MAY BE TRANSFERRED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, WITH THE BUSINESS' FOR WHICH THEY WERE TAKEN OUT WHEN THERE IS A BONA
FIDE SALE OR TRANSFER OF THE Pkr~PERTY USED AND EMPLOYED IN THE BUSINESS AS STOCK IN
TRADE, BUT SUCH TRANSFERRED LICENSE SHALL NOT' BE HELD GOOD FOR ANY LONGER TIME OR
PERIOD THAN FROM WHICH IT WAS ORIGINALLY ISSUED; PROVIDED, THAT THE ORIGINAL LICENSE
SHALL BE SURRENDERED TO AND FILEB WITH THE CITY TAX COLLECTOR AT THE TIME APPLICATION
FOR TRANSFER IS MADE, SUCH TRANSFERRED LICENSE, AFTER BEING APPROVED, SHALL BE OF THE
SAME FORCE AND EFFECT AS THE ORIGINAL LICENSE.
SECTION 3: THAT ALL LICENSES SHALL BE PAYABLE ON OR BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF
