04-16,17-23a Council Chamber April 16 1923. J. L. Troup, designated as Sanitary Officer !and Special Policeman, appeared and took the prescribed !,oath. City C1~~ Council Chamber April 17, 1923. The Council met on the call of the Mayor, -each member of the Council having been served with 'notice of the time and place of meeting. Councilmen Malone, Keen, Ranson, Scott, and Sundy were present. ,The Mayor was present and presided. The object of the called meeting was sta ~ d by the Mayor as being for the purpose o£ considering 'the advisability o£ regnesting the legislature now in 'session to pass a speciact authorizing the City o£ Delray to acquire prope y for municipal purposes, s ~ City Hall, Fire House, Park Purposes, and such other uses as the municipality might desire, and to presetibe the manner of raising funds to carry out the contem- jpla~ec project. The idea suggested in the call of the Mayor 'was,fnrther elarated by E. C. Hall, and r`. J. Schra- " 'der who was in a tendance. ~• Mr. Keea~ Chairman of the Committee on Fi~anee, submitted the £oll:owing preamble and reso- lotion: Wf~REAS IT IS DEEMED ADVISABLE AND. NECESSARY ,~~~~ r that the City of Delray, F~.orida, acquire real es- tate and ecreot buildings for municipal purposes, such as spaoe to accommodate city officials, police and sanitary operations, fire department, and for a public park and other allied interests; and 4 .r '~7HEREAS a preliminary estimate indicates the the sum of One Hundred and ten Thousand Dollars 0110.000.00) will be necessary to carry into effect the city`s contemplated building and other improve- ments: Therefore be it ` RE80LVED (1) 'c'hat the Legislature of the 'State of Florida, now in session be requested to pass a special act authorizing the City of Delray, Florida, tto float a special bond issue of X110.000.00 or so much thereof as may be found necessary, said issue to run for a period of thirty years and bear interest at the rate of 6o per annum.. ~ (2) That the special act requested of the 'Legislature shall stipulate that before the right to issue the bonds herein contemplated shall be e$er- 'oised, the question of approval or refection of the i proposition shall be submitted to the qualified bond !electors of said city at a special election held for .• ~, that purpose (3} That the City attorney be requested to a bill embodying the purposes and wishes herein to be submitted to the Legislature. The preamble and resolution was adopted on call, those voting in the affirmative being Mr. lane, Mr. been, Mr. Ranson, Mr. Scott, ans Mr. Sundy.
