Ord 444-42 AN F~ERGENCY 0RD!~ANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TttE~ CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, A~E~;DING ORDINANCE NO. 818, THE S~E BEING "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC UPON ~ PUBLIC STREE~TS OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND SECTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF". WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the City of Delray Beach, Florida, due to ~he fact that the traffic ordinance of this city does not provide for adequate lighting on bicycles operated during the night time, and WHEREAS the present regulations d~mm~_ng the lights used by automobiles in this city necessitates the proper lighting of bicycles in order to protect the operators thereof, and WHEREAS it is necessary for the public safety of this city and its inhabitants that adequate regulations be made for the lighting of such 'bicycles, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT 0RDAI~ED by the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, that Section 71 of Ordinance No. ~t~., the same being "An ordinance regulating traffic upon the public strees of Delray Beach, Florida, and repealing all ordinances and sections of ordinances in conflict herewith and providing a penalty for the violation of the provisions thereof", be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows, to-wit: Section 71. Lamps on bicycles. Every bic~e operated on the streets or other public thoroughfares of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise shall be equipped with a fixed lamp on the front exhibiting a white light visible from a distance of at least 500~-~feet to the front and with a fixed lamp on the rear exhibiting a red light visible from a distance of 500 ft. to the rear.
