Adjourned meeting of the City Council was held on the
above date and was called to order at 3:30 by president
of Council J.R.Cason Jr, following m~vmbers present
J.R.Cason, T.~`.kcRae, L.H.Bradshaw, J.G.Fonno, absent
G.J.Strickland,
Mr Gibbs representing the DeLavergno Engine Co then
address®d the meeting in reference to selling the City
a Fifty Hores power oil Engine for the Electric Light
and water plant,
Mr Strunk representing th® Fair B,~.nks horse Engine
Co, then adressed the Council along the same lines.
Council then thonoughlq discussed the Engine Proposition,
after which Yr bde Rae then made a motion & was seconded.
by fir Fenno that the City Purchase the DeLavergne Engin®.
A vote was then taken resulting as follows

held on Juffi~ 30th 1914, it was decided to have installed
in the powe plant of the Water and Light plant a type
D.H. DeLaV®rgne Engine 50 H.P. the above action ~4as ta1Q3n
in accordance with our right inferred from the clause
regarding the substitution of the DeLaV®rgne Engine.
W® have aranged payment with the D®LaVergne }tachine
co, for the c`~ifference between the cost to you of the
F & 1 Engine, and the cost of the DeLaVergne Engine.
it will therefor be necessary for you to pay the DeLevergn® g
Lachine Co, only sixteen hundred and five dollars the
amount due on the engine b~hieh is the amount which you
have indirectly advised us ie the cost to you of the .
D F.&.k. Engine thin deduction was arived at by subtracting;
the amount which you claimed in yourwire of July23 rd
was the price in excess of the coat to you of the F.&.b',.
7 engine, the quotation of the Gibbs Gas EngineCo, to qou
was Twenty Six hundred and thirty dollars, the price of -
the F.&.2~'. F,ngine, therefor being aizteen hundred and
five dollars, as the price is in variance with direct
quotations of the ~E.S~.i" Co to us we ae®ume that you user
looked the freight, in this case kindlt credit ua with th®
difference, we have advised the DeLaVergne 2,4achins Co of
our Action that they may be prepared to furnish you with
the Engine at the earliest date possible.
