Cason and Strickland. Absent, A1d. Acton and ti9ackarman . named Clerk presents the petitions of the followingfparties to have their names placed~on the ballot far the coming municipal election as candidates for office as followB; For i^:ayor, J. I'or ~~Iarshal. J. ~d. Green. J. Il~I, i'7alker. Clerk also presented petition of J. S. Grant for member of the council but stated that he had been advised Ir. Grant had nothing to do with tYae petition, did not want the office and would not qualify if elected. I~ioved and seconded that, owing to the conditions exie- t~-ng as stated by the Glerk, the petition of J. S. Grant be placed on the table. Carried. P:Iotion b~;- Ald. Cason, seconded by A1d. Strickland, that the petitions of J. M. Cromer and A. F. Carried. PrTotion that Clerk be instructed to see that the ballot for the coming election is properly prepared, submitted to the attorney for instection, and that a sufficient number are printed for nse ~t the elution, as prescribed by law.
