AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA,
PROVIDING FOR T~I~I I~D[~ GROSS WEIGHT OF ~E~IIC~
OPERATED UPON THE PUBLIC THOROUGHFARES OF THE CITY
OF DEL~Y B~%CH, ~I..ORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR A
PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY THEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED By the City Council of the City of Delray
Beach, Florida:
FI ~RS.T:_ No motor vehicle, or combination of vehicles, with
pneumatic tires, shall be operated on the public thoroughfares
of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, with gross weight per
vehicle including the weight of such vehicle in excess of 16,000
pounds. The maximum gross weight, including weight of vehicle,
of any such single vehicle, singly or in combination, shall not
exceed 16,000 pounds, unless specific authority has been obtained
from the State Road Department, or the Railroad Commission, or
unless each vehicle is equipped with vacuum booster brakes,
electric brakes or air brakes, to safeguard the travelling public,
at least six tires in contact with the road, and oversize tires
of sufficient dimensions to conserve the public thoroughfares
which will allow an 18,000 pound gross load for such vehicle:
provided however, that trucks with two wheel trailer attached,
with pneumatic tires, shall be allowed a gross weight of 18,000
pounds; such gross load to be packed on such vehicle so as not
to exceed §50 pounds per inch of tire: provided however, motor
busses under the jurisdiction of the State Railroad Com~_ission
shall be permitted the vehicle weight as provided by the statutes
of the State of Florida.
SECOND: No motor vehicle equipped with solid tires shall be
operated on the public thoroughfares of the Oity of Delray Peach,
Florida, carrying a load of more than 8000 pounds, including
weight of such motor veaicie.
~fHIRD: 1~o four-wheel trailer equipped with solid tires
shall be operated on the public thoroughfares of the City of
Delray Beach, Florida, carrying a load of more than 3000 pounds,
including weight of trailer.

FOURTH___.~ No four-wheel trailer equipped with pneumatic
tires shall be operated on the public thoroughfares of the
City of Delray Beach, Florida, carrying a load of more than
16,000 pounds, including the weight of trailer.
F,I.F.TH: No two-wheel, or semi-trailer, equipped with
solid tires shall be operated on the public thoroughfares of
the City of Delray Beach, Florida, carrying a load of more
than lB00 pounds, including weight of trailer.
SIXTH: No two-wheel trailer equipped with pneumatic tires
shall be operated on the public thoroughfares of the City of
Delray Beach, Florida, carrying a load of more than 3000 pounds,
including weight of trailer.
SEVENTH: The City Council may at its discretion, grant
for some temporary and/or unusual purpose permission to operate
a motor driven vehicle, trailers or semi-trailers on certain
designated streets of the aggregate weight of truck and load
not exceeding 16,000 pounds on each axle. Such permit~.shall',be~.,
lssu. ed b~.~the City Clerk after the same has been authorized by
the City Council, and shall be conditioned upon the applicant
properly indemuifying the city against any damage caused to the
public thoroughfares of said city by such vehicle. The nature
and amount of surety required for such indemnification shall be
determined by the City Council.
f~ All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
?~.~,..,,..., p violating any of the provisions of this ordi-
nance shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $100.00, or
imprisonment in the City dail not to exceed sixty ~60~ days, or
by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court.
