08-05-80SpMtg AUGUST 5, 1980 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was held in the Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M., Tues- day, August 5, 1980, with Vice-Mayor Malcolm T. Bird presiding, Acting City Manager Thomas E. Weber, Assistant City Attorney Herbert W. A. Thiele and Council Members Charlotte G. Durante, James H. Scheifley and Willard V. Young present. Mayor Weekes was in New York City on official City business. Vice-Mayor Bird called the meeting to order and announced that same had been called for the purpose of considering authorizing settle- ment of the case of Barbara M. Bean vs City of Delray Beach. 1o Assistant City Attorney Thiele advised that the City Attorney's Office has had an offer from the plaintiff and the plaintiff's attorney to settle this case which involved an auto accident which occurred on West Atlantic Avenue between the plaintiff and a police vehicle. They have offered to settle the case for $3,000. It is the recommendation of the City's insurance defense counsel and the City Attorney's Office to settle the case for this amount. Mr. Scheifley moved to follow the recommendation of the City Attorney and settle this case for $3,000, seconded by Mrs. Durante. Said motion passed unanimously.
