08-09-79SpMtg AUGUST 9, 1979 A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was held in the Council Chambers at 11:45 A.M., Thursday, August 9, 1979, with Mayor Leon M. Weekes, presiding and City Manager J. Eldon Mariott, Assistant City Attorney Clifford Shandy, and Council members Malcolm T. Bird and Charlotte G. Durante, present. Mayor Weekes reported that this meeting has been called for the purpose of considering bids to purchase the yacht, Exciton. The Assistant City Attorney reported that the auction was held today as scheduled. The highest and only bid on the yacht was made by Mr. Wheeler B. Boone and the amount was $12,000.00. The sale was with reserve and was based and conditioned upon the unquestioned right of the City of Delray Beach to reject any and all bids. The City Manager reported that it is recommended that the offer be rejected by Council. Mr. Bird moved that Council reject the offer, seconded by Mrs. Durante. Said motion passed unanimously. Mayor Weekes declared the meeting adjourned at 11:46 A.M.
