10-07-74SpMtg OCTOBER 7, 1974 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was held in the Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 7, 1974, with Mayor James H. Scheifley presiding and City Manager J. Eldon Mariott, Council members Grace S. Krivos, David E. Randolph, J. L. Saunders and Leon M. Weekes present. Mayor Scheifley called the meeting to order. The Lord's Prayer was recited in unison and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States was given. Mayor Scheifley stated he had called the special meeting for the purpose of considering a Solicitation request and for any other business that may come before the meeting. The City Manager reported the City was in receipt of an application from the Circle K Club of Florida Atlantic University requesting permission to solicit funds in the City of Delray Beach on Saturday, October 12, 1974, between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. The monies collected will be used in support of the Delray Child Development Center of Delray Beach. The Solicita- tion Committee has reviewed the request and has recommended approval by unanimous vote with the contingency that the group not use the streets and sidewalks for their solicitation. Mr. Saunders moved permission be granted to the Circle K Club to solicit funds in Delray Beach with the stipulation that no soliciting be conducted on the streets and sidewalks, seconded by Mr. Weekes, said motion passing unanimously.
