11-22-72SpMtg NOVE~'~ER 22, 1972 A special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was held in the Council Chambers at 12:15 P.M., Wednesday, November 22, 1972, with Mayor James H. Scheifley in the Chair, City Manager J. Eldon Mariott, City Attorney G. Robert Fellows and Council Members Jack L. Saunders and O. F. Youngblood being present. Grace S. (Martin) Krivos and Leon M. Weekes were absent. 1. The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. 2- The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America was given. 3. Mayor Scheifley called the meeting to order and announced the same had been called for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the November 21 Primary Election. 6. The City Clerk reported the results of the Primary Election held on Tuesday, November 21 for Councilmen for the term of 2 years as follows, and said that in the absence of any declaration of contest by any of the Candidates in said Election, Council should accept the report of the Election returns submitted by the Clerks and Inspectors of the Election. Samuel H. Allen, Jr. 474 Mark S. Baldwin 284 Jack L. Saunders 871 Semmie Z. Taylor 358 Leon M. Weekes 901 A motion should also be passed that Samuel H. Allen, Jr., Jack L. Saunders, Semmie Z. Taylor and Leon M. Weekes, as a result of the Primary Election, be the Council Candidates for the General Election to be held. on Decem]~er 5, 1972. On motion by Mr. Youngblood, seconded by Mr. Saunders and unanimously carried, the report of the returns of the Primary Election was accepted as submitted. Mr. Youngblood then moved that as a result of the Primary Election, Samuel H. Allen, Jr., Jack L. Saunders, Semmie Z. Taylor and Leon M. Weekes be the Council Candidates for the General Election to be held on December 5, 1972, the motion being seconded by Mr. Saunders and unanimously carried.
