12-06-72SpMtg DECEMBER 6, 1972. A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was held in the Council Chambers at 12:15 P.M., Wednesday, December 6, 1972, with Mayor James H. Scheifley in the Chair, City Attorney Go Robert Fellows and Council Members Grace S. Krivos, Jack L. Saunders, Leon M. Weekes and O. F. Youngblood being present. City Manager J. Eldon Mariott was absent from the meeting. The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. The Pledge of Allegiance-to the Flag of the United States' of America was given. Mayor Scheifley called the meeting to order and announced that same had been called for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the General Election held on Tuesday, December 5, 1972, and for any other business that may come before this meeting. The City Clerk reported the results of the General Election held on Tuesday, December 5, as follows, and said that in the absence of any declaration of contest by any of the Candidates in said Election, Council should accept the report of the Election returns, submitted by the Clerk and Inspectors of the Election; and as a result of the votes cast, should declare Mr. J. L. Saunders and Mr. Leon Mo Weekes duly elected to serve as Councilmen for two-year terms for 1973 and 1974. SAMUEL H. ALLEN, JR. 641 JACK L. SAUNDERS 1300 SEMMIE Z. TAYLOR 720 LEON M. WEEKES 1369 TOTAL VOTES 4030 TOTAL VOTERS 2260 On motion by Mrs. Krivos, seconded by Mr. Saunders and unanimously carried, the report of the returns of the General Election was accepted, and Mr. Saunders and Mr. Weekes were declared duly elected to serve as Councilmen for two-year terms.
