A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was held in the Council Chambers at 12:15 P.M., Wednesday, De- ce~nber 8, 1971, with Mayor J. L. Saunders in the Chair, City Manager J. Eldon Mariott, City Attorney G. Robert Fellows and Council Members Grace S. Martin, James H. Scheifley, Leon M. Weekes and O. F. Youngblood being present: The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America was given. Mayor Saunders called the meeting to order and announced that same had been called for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the General Election held on Tuesday, December 7, 1971, and for any other business that may come before this meeting. The City Clerk reported 'the results of the General Election held on Tuesday, December 7th, as follows, and said that in the absence of any declaration of contest by any of the Candidates in said Election, Council should accept the report of the Election returns submitted by the Clerk and Inspectors of the Election. ~tAYOR LeROY W. Martin and Mr. Ozie F. Youngblood have been elected to serve as Council ,Members for two-year terms, 1972 and 1973; and the question as to whether the City should pass an Ordinance granting a Franchise to TelePrompTer Florida CATV Corporation carried. On motion by Mr. Weekes, seconded by Mr. Scheifley and unanimously · carried, the report of the returns of the General Election was accepted, as su~.~'~itted, and as a result of the General Election, James H. Mr. Weekes moved that the report of the returns of the General Election be accepted, as submitted, and as a result of the General Election, James H. Scheifley will be Mayor of the City and Grace S. Martin and O. F. Youngblood will be Council Members and the question as to whether the City should pass an Ordinance granting a Franchise to TelePrompTer Florida CATV Corporation carried. Mayor Saunders relinquished the gavel to Vice-Mayor Martin and seconded the motion, which was unanimous- ly carried.
