Res 36-89 RESOLUTION NO. 36-89 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE SUNSET UNITY PLEDGE AND CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY, TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, JULY 1, 1989, AT 8:00 P.M., BOYNTON BEACH CIVIC CENTER PARKING LOT, 128 EAST OCEAN AVENUE, BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS A PEACEFUL RALLY TO SHOW INTERRACIAL UNITY AND SOLIDARITY. WHEREAS, the citizens of Delray Beach, Florida, are opposed to racism, intolerance and hatred; and, WHEREAS, the citizens of Palm Beach County, Florida, are gathering for a Unity Pledge on Saturday, July 1, 1989; and, WHEREAS, the Delray Beach City Commission, at a meeting held June 27, 1989, unanimously moved for the adoption of a resolution decrying and opposing the actions of the Ku Klux Klan; and, WHEREAS, by that same unanimous motion, the City Commission expressed its strong support for the Sunset Unity Pledge to be held on Saturday, July 1, 1989, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, hereby supports the Sunset Unity Pledge and Candlelight Ceremony to be held on Saturday, July 1, 1989, at 8:00 P.M., Boynton Beach Civic Center Parking Lot, 128 East Ocean Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida.
