Res 02-87 RESOLUTION NO. 2-87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION THROUGH THE CITY ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO PURSUE AN APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR THE INSTALLATION OF "NO WAKE" SIGNS IN THE AREA OF THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY FROM THE N.E. 8TH STREET BRIDGE NORTH FIVE HUNDRED (500) FEET. WHEREAS, boat wakes cause extensive erosion and damage to seawalls and shores by impacting such; and, WHEREAS, seawalls are expensive to construct, maintain, and repair; and, WHEREAS, erosion resulting from damaged seawalls necessitates relatively frequent expensive dredging; and, WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach can apply for "No Wake" signs pursuant to F.A.C. Rule 16N-23, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Engineering Department pursue application to the Department of Natural Resources pursuant to F.A.C. Rule 16N-23 for "No Wake" signs in the area of the Intracoastal Waterway from the N.E. 8th Street Bridge north five hundred (500) feet. Section 2. That the City Attorney's office assist the Engineering Department in the application process where needed and requested by the Engineering Department.
