Res 08-86 RESOLUTION NO. 8-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING CONSIDERATION OF THE EXTENSION OF FEDERAL PARTICIPATION IN THE BEACH RENOURISHMENT PROGRAMS IN PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD COPIES. WHEREAS, the Federal Authority for beach renourishment projects expires in 1988; and, WHEREAS, congressional reauthorization can extend this authority to fifty years but to achieve this reauthorization it could take a minimum of three years and possibly longer with the new budget control bill, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the-City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, hereby requests that the Committee on Public Works and Transportation of the House of Representatives, United States, request that the Chief of Engineers review the beach eroSion control project for Palm Beach County, Florida, from Martin County Line to Lake Worth Inlet, and from South Lake Worth Inlet to Broward County Line, printed in House Document No. 164, 87th Congress, 1st Session, and other pertinent reports, with particular reference to the advisability of extending the period of Federal participation in periodic nourishment costs of the authorized beach erosion control project. Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to Congressman Mica and other congressmen who would be affected.
