A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANS-
PORTATION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO APPROVE CITY RECOM-
MENDATIONS FOR A NIGHTTIME PARKING RESTRICTION FOR A
PORTION OF A-1-A LYING WITHIN THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Delray Beach, Florida,
has requested the District Engineer of the Department of Transportation
of the State of Florida to review proposed parking restrictions by the
City for a portion of a roadway known as A-l-A, which portion lies
within the City limits; and,
WHEREAS, the District Engineer has informally approved parking
restrictions for the roadway, based upon traffic engineering data~
subject to the receipt of a formal request from the City which will then
be submitted to the Department for its written approval; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach requests approval by the
State Department of Transportation for a nighttime parking restriction
on a portion of A-1-A to extend north from the south edge of Manor House
property, located at 100 North Ocean Boulevard, beginning at parking
meter post #108 and south where Miramar intersects with South Ocean
Boulevard, parking meter post #B-77, between the hours of 11:00 P.M. to
5:00 A.M. each day; and,
WHEREAS, in support of the request, the City Council has made
the following findings: that the restriction will prove beneficial in
its reduction of noisy and disruptive activities conducted from vehicles
parked adjacent to the beach in the nighttime hours; that such parking
is properly incidental to daytime municipal beach use; and that the City
of Delray Beach hereby commits to the enforcement of this restricted
parking along the above described portion of A-l-A,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach,
Florida, formally requests the Department of Transportation of the State
of Florida to provide the City written approval of the City's request
for a nighttime parking restriction for a portion of A-l-A, to extend
north from the south edge of Manor House property, located at 100 North
Ocean Boulevard, beginning at parking meter post #108 and south where
Miramar intersects with South Ocean Boulevard, parking meter post ~B-77,
such portion of the roadway lying within the City Limits, such
restriction to be effective between the hours of 11:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M.
each day, restriction to prohibit the parking of vehicles adjacent to
the beach during such hours.
Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to furnish a
certified copy of this Resolution to the District Engineer of the
Department of Transportation of the State of Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session on this the 8th day of
