A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH,
FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT CERTAIN MUNICIPALITIES BE EXCLUDED
FROM THE PALM BEACH COUNTY FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY TAXING
DISTRICT AS INITIALLY ESTABLISHED IN CHAPTER 67-1869 LAWS OF ~.
FLORIDA~ LATER AMENDED IN CHAPTER 76-460 LAWS OF FLORIDA AND
AS PROPOSED IN A BILL AMENDING SECTION 11 OF CHAPTER 67-1869
LAWS OF FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR THE FURNISHING OF COPIES OF
THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, recognizes the numerous
benefits that a free library facility within a municipality provides its residentsl and,
WHEREAS, the Ci'~y Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, is aware of the proposed
bill which authorizes Palm Beach County to submit a special referendum to voters of the District for a
levy of up to one-half mill for five years for library capital improvementsl and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, has determined that a
free library facility may exist in municipal boundaries supported by means other than municipal
taxation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, recommends that the
Palm Beach County Free Public Library Taxing District as first established in Chapter 67-1869 Laws of
Florida, later amended in Chapter 76-460 Laws of Florida, and as proposed in a Bill amending Section
11 of Chapter 67-1869 Laws of Florida should exclude not only that property taxed by a municipality for
library purposes, but also that property located in any municipality which contains a free full service
library facility open to the public funded by means other than local taxation.
Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to furnish a copy of this
Resolution to local members of the State Legislature and any other entity or individual requesting
same.
