Res 56-85 RESOLUTION NO. 56-85 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF A BEACH COMMITTEE AND OUTLINING THE DUTIES OF SUCH COMMITTEE. ~VHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, is concerned with the appearance of the City's public beaches; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach desires to preserve and protect the City's public beaches as such beaches are invaluable, natural assests; and, ~VHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach desires to have a committee to advise and make recommendations to the City Council regarding the needs of the beach, both present and future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLO~VS: Section 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the creation of a beach committee to consist of five (5) active members to be appointed by Council. Section 2. That members serving on the committee shall consist of residents of the City. Representation on the committee shall include one (1) member from the north beach area, one (1) member from the south beach area, one (1) member from the area west of the Intracostal Waterway, one (1) member from the area west of 1-95, and one (1) member from the Chamber of Commerce. Persons serving shall not be employed by the City, and shall serve without pay. Section 3. That the Beach Committee shall organize itself with a chairman and secretary and such other officers as are deemed necessary to carry out their responsibilities to Council. Section 4. That persons appointed shall serve for a period of one (1) year or until their successors are appointed, except that Council, at their pleasure, may remove any members or fill any vacancies. The committee may submit recommendations to Council for membership on the committee. Section 5. The duties of this committee are to advise and recommend to Council any and all matters regarding the needs of the City's public beach. Section 6. That meetings shall be held at least monthly. Special meetings are to be held as necessary. Section 7. That the duties and privileges of this committee are advisory only and shall always be subject to approval, disapproval and control of City Council.
