Res 92-85 RESOLUTION NO. 92-85
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO REJECT REZONINGS OF PROPERTY
ON OR NEAR MILITARY TRAIL WHICH WOULD RESULT IN
DEVELOPMENT WITH INCREASED TRAFFIC INTENSITY UNTIL
THE WIDENING OF MILITARY TRAIL TO FOUR LANES.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach is
seriously concerned about the inability of Military Trail to handle
current traffic levels; and,
WHEREAS, projects are now being presented to the County
Commission which will increase the traffic service demands of Military
Trail, and in some cases those projects involve rezonings which will
prodnce even more traffic congestion than is anticipated under current
zoning; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray 'Beach, is
aware that current construction schedules do not call for the widening
of Military Trail to four lanes until 1988/1989; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach is
concerned about the quality of life in this City, and understands that
the road system which serves the City significantly impacts that quality
of life; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach believes
that a further deterioration of the level of service along Military
Trail reconstitutes an unacceptable deterioration of the quality of
life, both in the City and in the neighboring county areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray
Beach, Florida, request the Board of County Commissioners to reject
rezonings of property along or near Military Trail which would result in
development with increased traffic intensity until the widening of
'Military Trail to four lanes.
Section 2. The the City Clerk is hereby directed to
furnish copies of this resolution to the Board of County Commissioners
- of Palm Beach County and to any other person requesting a copy.
