Res 10-84 RESOLUTION NO. 10-84 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO ARTICLE V, "ELECTIONS", SECTION §.07(a), "SPECIAL ELECTIONS", OF THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD MARCH 13, 1984, TO FILL A CITY COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP VACANCY FOR THE UNEXPIRED ONE YEAR TERM OF SUCH VACANCY UNDER THE AUTHORITY AND PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN ARTICLE III, "LEGISLATIVE", SECTION 3.06(c), "VACANCIES; FORFEITURE OF OFFICE; FILLING OF VACANCIES", OF THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA; SETTING THE TIME, PLACES AND MANNER OF HOLDING SAID SPECIAL ELECTION. WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of Florida Statutes §90. 012, on January 12, 1984 City Council Member Doak S. Campbell, III submitted his resignation from the membership of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, effective March 28, 1984; and, WHEREAS, the provisions of the City Charter of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, at Article III, Section 3.06(c), "Vacancies; Forfeiture of Office; Filling of Vacancies", of the City Charter of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, require a special election to be held at the next regular city election to fill this vacancy in the member- ship of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, where such vacancy occurs at least sixty (60) or more calendar days preceding the date of the regular city ' election; and, WHEREAS, Council Member Doak S. Campbell, III's resignation having been submitted at least sixty (60) or more calendar days preceding the next regular city · election now set for March 13, 1984, a special election need be held to fill the one (1) year unexpired portion remaining on Council Member Campbell's term; and, WHEREAS, Article V, "Elections", Section 5.07(a), "Special Elections", of the City Charter of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, requires the adoption of this Resolu- tion calling for a special election, and to provide for the time, manner, and means of holding said special election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That a Special Election is hereby called for the purposes of electing by separate ballot a qualified candidate to fill a City Council membership vacancy, being the one (1) year unexpired portion of Council Member Doak S. Campbell, III's term of office. Section 2. That said Special e}ection shall be held at the next regular city election (the first nonpartisan election) on March 13, 1984, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with the Precincts and Polling Places in the City of Delray Beach, Florida, as designated by the Supervisor of Elections for Palm Beach County, Florida, as follows: Precinct No. POLLING PLACE 166 & 166A Delray Beach Elementary School, 51 N. Swinton Avenue 166B Pines of Delray N. Clubhouse, 1641 N.W. 18th Avenue 166C Country Manor Clubhouse, 4900 Country Manors Boulevard 170 St. Vincent Ferret's Church, 740 Palm Trail 171 & 175 Community Center, 50 N.W. 1st Avenue 171A Fire Station #4, Corner Barwick Road and Lake Ida Road 172 Pompey Park Recreation Center, 1101 N.W. 2nd Street Precinct No. POLLING PLACE (Con't) 173 Carver Middle School, 301 S.W. 14th Avenue 174 & 176 Delra¥ Beach Mall, Federal Highway & Linton Boulevard 178 Boca Raton-Delray Beach Gold Coast Church of Christ, 620 Bluebird Drive 179 Pines of Delray Clubhouse, 2451 Black Olive Boulevard 189 & 190 Adult Recreation Center, 801 N.E. 1st Street Ail qualified electors of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, shall be qualified to vote in such election.
