Res 15-84 RESOLUTION NO. 15-84 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING PALM BEACH COUNTY TO FUND THE EXPANSION OF LINTON BOULEVARD BETWEEN 1-95 AND THE FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY; PROVIDING FOR FURNISHING COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, Linton Boulevard has become a major thoroughfare for traffic traveling between 1-95 and A1A as a result of the construction of a four-lane bridge over the Intraeoastal Waterway at Linton Boulevard; and WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach has experienced a growth in population and a geographic expansion over the past ten years without an attendant expansion to Linton Boulevard; and WHEREAS, many of those newer residential developments have been located on Linton Boulevard, and others, still in the development stages, are planned for the sections of Linton Boulevard which are west of 1-95, but which will use Linton Boulevard for beach access; and WHEREAS, Linton Boulevard is designated as a county road; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach in order to provide for the best interest of its citizens and to accomplish the safer and more efficient movement of traffic through the City wishes to make a request to Palm Beach County to fund the widening of Linton Boulevard to six lanes between 1-95 and the Florida East Coast Railway right-of-way. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City Couneil of the City of Delray Beach, Florida requests Palm Beach County to fund the widening of Linton Boulevard to create a six-lane u?ban section from 1-95 to the Florida East Coast Railway right-of-way. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and di_reeted to furnish a copy of this Resolution to the members of the Palm Beach County Commission;~ and to any other individual or entity requesting a copy.
