Res 58-84 RESOLUTION NO.58-84 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SETTING FORTH THE PUBLIC NEED, DESCRIP- TION OF THE PROJECT AND LEGAL DESCRIPTION OF THE BEACH RESTORATION PROJECT AND REQUESTING PREPARA- TION OF EROSION CONTROL TRUST FUND CONTRACT. WHEREAS, the beaches of Delray Beach has experienced considerable erosion in the past, and; WHEREAS, the erosion has in the past caused a loss of recrea- tional beach and damages to State Road A1A and other upland properties, and~ WHEREAS, the City instituted a program of beach restoration with periodic nourishment in 1973, which has adequately protected City beaches, and; WHEREAS, the beaches require replacement of 823,000 cubic yards of sand in 1984, to maintain recreational beach and storm protection, and; WHEREAS, the beaches which require periodic nourishment lie in Sections 10, 16, 21, 28, Township 42 and 45 South, Range 43 East, and; WHEREAS, the State of Florida is authorized to expend Erosion Control Trust Funds as stated in Chapter 161.091 "Florida Statues", if the appropriate contract documents are executed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City of Delray Beach has by the above statements established the need for the beach nourishment project, a description of the project and its legal description and the State of Florida through the Department of Natural Resources is requested to prepare the appropriate Erosion Control Trust Fund contract documents.
