Res 44-83 RESOLUTION NO. 44-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE DESIGNATION OF AN ENTER- PRISE ZONE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach has determined its need for the benefits of the Tax Credits for New Jobs (Section 220.181, Florida Statutes); and, WHEREAS, it is required by the Rule of the Department of Veteran and Community Affairs, Division of Local Resource Management, Chapter 9B-15, that such benefits can only be accrued upon designation of an area(s) as enterprise zone(s) in accordance with Chapter 290, Florida Statutes; and, WHEREAS, an area within the City of Delray Beach has been identified as a Housing and Urban Development-approved Community Development Block Grant Program target area or neighborhood strategy area pursuant to 24 CRF Part 570; and, WHEREAS, the area to be found within the boundaries of Northwest Fourth Street and Lake Ida Road North, Southwest and Northwest Third Avenues East, South- west Fourth Street South and Interstate 95 West, is characterized as an area in which there are a substantial number of slum, deteriorated or deteriorating structures, high density population and overcrowded conditions, a predominance of inadequate and deteriorating streets, and general unsafe conditions for the residents of the area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the areas defined above are found to be enterprise zones. Section 2. That rehabilitation and redevelopment activities are necessary in the interest of public safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Delray Beach.
