Res 68-83 RESOLUTION NO. 68-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA RESOLVING THAT THE REQUIREMENTS OF ARTICLE III, "PURCHASES", OF DIVISION 1, "GENERALLY", OF CHAPTER 2, "ADMINISTRATION OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH BE WAIVED FOR PURPOSES OF APPLICATION TO THE CURRENT AWARD OF A MEDICAL DIRECTOR CONTRACT. WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach is mandated by Section ~01.~6 (2), Florida Statutes, to procure the services of a qualified medical director to supervise and accept the responsibility for the providing of emergency medical services; WHEREAS, the immediate previous medical director resigned; WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach was assigned an interim medical director by the Emergency Room Physicians, P.A. of Bethesda Memorial Hospital; to wit: Dr. William R. Welhaf; WHEREAS, Dr. Welhaf has established procedure and protocol for the provision of emergency medical services, pursuant to Section #01.#6 (2), Florida Statutes; WHEREAS, Dr. Welhaf has established a good working rapport with those City of Delray Beach employees and officers involved in emergency medical services; WHEREAS, Dr. Welhaf is medical director for other municipalities in the area; WHEREAS, Dr. Welhaf is experienced in the rendering of medical director services and the responsibilities of such; WHEREAS, the cost to the City for the services and responsibilities of the medical director under the proposed contract is comparable to the cost of such to other area governmental entities providing emergency medical services; WHEREAS, the services, responsibilities, experience, and ability of medical doctors available for, and desirous of, serving as medical director are not homogenous. WHEREAS~ Dr. Welha:[ is the choice of those individuals involved in the provision of emergency medical services in the City of Delray Beach. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I . The requirements set forth in Chapter 2, "Administration", Article III, "Purchases" Division l, "Generally", are waived as applied to this specific medical director contract, PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session on this the 28th day of June ,1983.
