Res 71-83 Void VOID RESOLUTION NO. 71-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA DIRECTED TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COM- MISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY AND THE PALM BEACH COUNTY METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION REQUESTING THAT-THEY JOINTLY AND SEVERALLY REVISE THE CURRENT PRIORITY LIST OF ROAD PROJECTS USING THE NEW TWO CENT GAS TAX FOR THOSE PROJECTS IN THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH TO GIVE TOP PRIORITY TO THE WIDENING OF CONGRESS AVENUE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE TO FURNISH CERTIFIED COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE COUNTY COMMISSION AND THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County has approved a new two cent gas tax to be used for construction of certain road projects within Palm Beach County, including projects within the City of Delray Beach, Florida; and, WHEREAS, in conjunction with this new tax, the Board of County Commis- sioners of Palm Beach County, together with the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization, have established a priority list of the road projects which are to be undertaken using these new tax dollars; and, WHEREAS, this road project priority list has, for those proposed projects within the City of Delray Beach, set the widening of Lake Ida Road as the top priority, ahead of other, more urgent projects in the City, such as the widening of Congress Avenue in those locations through the City of Delray Beach which have not yet been made four-lane; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, on behalf of the City's current and future residents and businesses desire to express their support for making the widening of Congress Avenue as the top priority project within the City of Delray Beach and for the road project priority list to be revised in accordance therewith. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, does hereby requests that the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, and the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization revise the road project priority list, for projects to be constructed using funds from the new two cent gas tax, to reflect that the top priority project 'within the City of Delray Beach, Florida, be the widening to four lanes of Congress Avenue from the City's northern boundary southward to Linton Boulevard, ahead of other important, but not as urgently needed projects within the City of Delray Beach, Florida.. Section 2. That the City Clerk's office is hereby authorized and directed to furnish certified copies of this Resolution to the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach CountY, the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization, and to all other appropriate public officials and agencies.
