A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE DELARY BEACH
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY'S PROPOSED THREE
PHASE PLAN FOR FUTURE TRAFFIC FLOW MANAGEMENT IN
THE DOWNTOWN AREA OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH;
PROVIDING FOR FURNISHING COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, recognizes t~at the
rapid growth of the City of Delray Beach has resulted in some serious traffic congestion problems in
the City's downtown area; and,
WHEREAS, the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority has proposed a three-
phase plan for future traffic flow management in the City's downtown area; and,
WHEREAS, this proposed three-phase plan is designed to provide for easy access to and
traffic movement through the downtown area, yet maintain the integrity of the downtown; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, wishes to express to
the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, the City Council's support for this three-phase
plan proposed by the Downtown Development Authority, provided that the implementation of such
plan does not at any time modify or eliminate the State of Florida's continued operation and
maintenance of the Atlantic Avenue bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, hereby expresses
its support for the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority's three-phase plan for future
traffic flow management in the downtown area of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, provided that
the implementation of such plan does not at any time modify or eliminate the State of Florida's
continued operation and maintenance of the Atlantic Avenue bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway.
Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to furnish a copy of
this Resolution to State of Florida, Department of Transportation, and to all other appropriate
public officials and agencies.
