A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA,
ESTABLISHING A COMMITTEE TO BE ENTITLED "COMMODITY
DISTRIBUTION COORDINATING COMMITTEE", AND SETTING
FORTH SUCH COMMITTEE'S COMPOSITION, PURPOSE AND
AUTHORITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, understands that
certain federal agencies may have certain surplus commodities that could be distributed to persons
and/or families in a free surplus commodity program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, recognizes that
certain persons and/or families located in the City of Delray Beach are truly in need of and are
worthy of receiving such free commodities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, wishes to establish a
committee to be entitled "Commodity Distribution Coordinating Committee" to assist with and
administer the distribution of these surplus commodities to needy persons and/or families within the
City of Delray Beach; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, hereby establishes
a committee, to be known hereafter as the "Commodity Distribution Coordinating Committee".
Section 2. That the purpose of the "Commodity Distribution Coordinating Committee"
shall be to assist with and administer the distribution of any future surplus commodities in our area
to qualified persons and/or families.
Section 3. a. That said "Commodity Distribution Coordinating Committee" shall be
composed of responsible, law abiding citizens of the community area, consisting of a membership
not to exceed ten (10) persons appointed by City Council, plus one (1) member of the Delray Beach
Clergy Association, to be selected by said Association.
b. That the members of said Commodity Distribution Coordinating Com-
mittee shall serve two (2) year terms.
c. The City Council shall have the authority to appoint all regular members
of the committee and to approve and ratify the Clergy Association member of the committee, and
the City Council shall have the authority with or without cause to remove any member of the
Committee from said position whenever a majority of the City Council votes for such a removal.
d. That the members of the Commodity Distribution Coordinating Com-
mittee shall serve without compensation.
e. That the Commodity Distribution Coordinating Committee shall adopt
bylaws which shall set forth the process for selection of presiding officers and procedures for
administering the distribution of the surplus commodities within the guidelines set forth above.
