A RESOLUTION OF THE GITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO SECTION 2-36 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE PURCHASING
AGENT TO PROCEED WITH PRICE NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE
LEASE AND/OR PURCHASE OF VARIOUS CURBSIDE WHEELED
CART REFUSE COLLECTION SYSTEMS; PROVIDING FOR
AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE NECESSARY AGREEMENTS;
PROVIDING FOR FUNDING.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, wishes to institute a
pilot program designed to evaluate the feasibility of a city-wide curbside wheeled cart refuse
collection system; and,
WHEREAS, the pilot program will involve the lease and/or purchase of the wheeled
carts, freight on the carts, lease and installation, with the attendant costs, of dump mechanisms,
and a repair/replacement parts allowance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, has determined that
such a pilot program should utilize two or more representative systems for such trash collection;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, pursuant to Section 2-
36 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, deems that the needs of the City
would best be served by conducting price negotiations for lease and/or purchase of various curbside
wheeled cart refuse collection systems.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. That, pursuant to Section 2-36 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Delray Beach, Florida, the City purchasing agent is hereby authorized and directed to proceed as in
Section 2-3~ of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, to conduct price
negotiations for the lease and/or purchase of various curbside wheeled cart refuse collection
systems, the specifications for which are set forth in the attachment hereto, labeled Exhibit A, and
which is expressly made a part hereof.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into any lease/purchase
agreement(s) necessary to institute the aforementioned pilot program.
Section 3. That funding for this pilot project is to come from funds in the budget of the
Public Works Department.
