Res 15-81 RESOLUTION NO. 15-81 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY AREA PLANNING BOARD'S RESOLUTION NO. 01-81-70 REQUESTING THE U .S. BUREAU OF THE CENSUS TO EXPLORE ALTERNATIVE METHOD- OLOGIES WHICH WOULD BE MORE SENSITIVE TO DYNAMIC HIGH GROWTH AREAS AND PROVIDE MORE ACCURATE POPULATION COUNTS IN A MORE COST EFFECTIVE MANNER. WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach, Florida, strongly feels that the Bureau of the Census population figure of 33,998 in no way represents an accurate figure of the City's current population; and WHEREAS, the City of Delray Beach, Florida, strongly disagrees with the use of a 26% vacancy rate for the total housing supply for the City; and WHEREAS, Mr. Richard A. Engels, Assistant Chief of Estimates and Projections for the Bureau of the Census, estimates a 13% vacancy rate, and the City of Delray Beach, Florida, feels strongly that this 13% is a more realistic figure of the City's vacancy rate, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City of Delray Beach,'Florida, strongly sup- ports the Palm Beach County Area Planning Board's Resolution No. 01-81-70 which requests the U.S. Bureau of the Census to explore alternative method- ologies which would be more sensitive to dynamic high growth areas and provide more accurate population counts in a more cost effective manner.
