Res 75-81 RESOLUTION NO. 75-81 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING AND ADOPTING THE RESOLUTION OF THE PALM BEACH COUNTY LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES WHICH STATES A POSITION SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION OF THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SOLID WAST AUTHORITY IN ITS PRESENT FORM; RECOMMENDS TRANSFER OF SOLID WASTE ACTIVITIES REVENUE SOURCES TO THE SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY AND REQUESTS ADJUST- MENTS FOR INFLATION TO THE FUNDING FOR THE AUTHORITY; PROVIDING FOR DISTRIBUTION OF THIS RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County League of Municipalities did, on September 17, 1981, adopt a Resolution supporting the continuation of the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority in its present form and setting forth certain other requests or recommendations regarding said Solid Waste Authority; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, desires to support and adopt this Resolution of the Palm Beach County League of Municipalities, and to set forth the same position and recom- mendations, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED' BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, hereby supports and adopts the September 17, 1981 Resolution of the Palm Beach County League of Municipalities regarding continuation of the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority in its present form. --' Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, hereby sets forth the same recommendations and position of the Palm Beach County League of Municipalities; that being: (1) that the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, does endorse the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority in its present form of four municipal representatives of the seven members of the Author- ity, or alternatively replacing two of the three County Commission members of the Authority with two citizens; and, (2) That the City Council recommends that the Legislature mandate that the County Commission transfer all Solid Waste activity and revenue sources to the Solid Waste Authority effective October 1, 1982; and, (3) That the Solid Waste Authority Special Act be amended . to p~ovide that the. Authority' s funding level of $150,000.00 per annum be adjusted for inflation, and that this and all previous amounts be declared a grant rather than a loan, since 70% of said funds come from municipal fees and County landfill sites. Section 3. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to provide copies of this Resolution to a~l appropriate public officials and agencies.
