A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING ITS OPPOSITION TO THE WITH-
DRAWAL OF THE CITY OF BOCA RATON FROM THE SOUTHEASTERN
PALM BEACH COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR THE
FURNISHING OF COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council
of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, that the City of Boca Raton is
attempting to influence the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation into
withdrawing Boca Raton from the Southeastern Palm Beach County Hospital
District; and,
WHEREAS, this action would inordinately increase the tax burden
on the taxpayers of the remaining members within this Hospital District
and possibly impair the existing Hospital operation and expansions; and,
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Boca Raton initially ap-
proved by referendum, the creation of the Hospital District and the sub-
sequent bonding obligations incurred by said District for the expansion of
its facilities; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida,
on behalf of the residents and citizens of the City of Delray Beach,
wishes to express its opposition to this action,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach,
Florida, hereby formally expresses its opposition to the withdrawal of the
City of Boca Raton from the Southeastern Palm Beach County Hospital Dis-
trict.
Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to furnish a
copy of this Resolution to all the members of the Palm Beach County Legis-
lative Delegation and to all other appropriate public officials and agen-
cies.
