Res 21-80 RESOLUTION NO. 21-80 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REJECTING THE BIDS OF SOUTHL~qD EQUIPmeNT CORPORATIO~ AND MTA EQUIPMENT CORPORATION ON 3 FRONT END LOADING REFUSE VEHICLES, OPENED FEBRUARY 5, 1980, AND DIRECTI~G THE CITY M~NAGER TO PROCEED DIRECTLY TO NEGO- TIATE WITH COMPETENT VENDORS. WHEREAS, the City Manager reported to the City Council on February 11, 1980, that the only two bids received relative to the pur- chase of 3 front end loading refuse vehicles were: Southland Equipment Corp (1979 Fords) $175,719.00 Less trade-in 3,000.00 Net Cost $172,719.00 MTA Equipment Corp. option "A" (1980 Mack) $219,864.60 Option "B" (1980 Mack) 215,667.72 Option "C" (1-1979 Ford 2-1980 Fords) 199,140.90 Option "D" (1-1979 Ford 2-1980 Fords) 203,253.00 Option "E" (1980 Mack) 219,446.40 Trade-in on any option $1,000. and, WHEREAS, the SOUTHLAND EQUIPMENT CORPORATION qualified its bid by not giving a firm delivery date and by taking exception to the $200.00 per day penalty for delivery after June 15, 1980; and, WHEREAS, there was a very substantial difference between the two bids, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the bids of SOUTHLAND EQUIPMENT CORPORATION and MTA EQUIP~.NT CORPORATION, the only bids received relative to the purchase of 3 front end loading refuse vehicles, are hereby rejected and declared void. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby directed to proceed directly to negotiate with competent vendors for the specific purchase of 3 front end loading refuse vehicles, and to give to Council a full report of all such negotiations.
