Res 22-80 RESOLUTION NO. 22-80 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF 3 FRONT END LOADING REFUSE VEHICLES THAT WILL BE REQUIRED ~EN THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH TAKES OVER THE GARBAGE AND TRASH COLLECTION IN THE FRANCHISE AREA ON JULY 1, 1980. WHEREAS, on February 21, 1980, the City'Council of the City of Delray Beach rejected the bids of SOUTHLAND EQUIPmeNT CORPORATION and ~A EQUIPMENT CORPORATION relating to the City's purchase of 3 front end loading refuse vehicles (which bids were opened February 5, 1980), and directed the City Manager to proceed directly to negotiate with competent vendors; and, WHEREAS, the City Manager has now negotiated with competent vendors for the purchase by the City of the said 3 front end loading refuse vehicles and makes the following report: MTA EQUIPMENT CORPORATION will sell to the City 3 front end loading refuse vehicles at a price of $69,886.20 each $209,658.60 Trade-in al lowance NONE Net 209,658.60 SOUTHLAND EQUIPMENT CORPORATION will sell to the City 3 front end loading refuse vehicles at a price of $58, 573.00 each $175,719.00 Trade-in allowance 3,000.00 Net 172,719.00 Both of the above offers have been made on the applicable terms and conditions as contained in the invitation to bid, the proposal form and specifications given to the above vendors prior to the submission of sealed bids, which were opened on February 5, 1980. Both offers accept the deli- very deadline of June 15, 1980, and both agree to liquid- ated damages of $200.00 per day for every day after July 15, 1980 until delivery is made to Delray Beach, Florida; and, WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that it is in the best interest of the City to award a contract for said vehicles, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the negotiations of the City Manager, or his designate, with MTA Equipment Corporation and Southland Equipment Corpora- tion resulting in the offers set forth above are hereby ratified. Section 2. That a Contract be awarded for the purchase of 3 front end loading refuse vehicles to SOUTHLAND EQUIPMENT CORPORATION in the amount of ($175,719.00 minus trade-in $3,000.00) $172,719.00, subject to the terms, conditions and specifications referred to above. Section 3. That the funding for this contract is to come from proposed garbage fee revenue bonds. PASSED AND ADOPTED in reqular session on this the 25th day of February , 1980. ~ MAYO~ LEON M.
