A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH, FLORIDA, DECLARING CERTAIN HOUSES WITHIN THE CITY
TO BE UNSAFE AND AN EMERGENCY BECAUSE SAID HOUSES ARE A
POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD; AND REQUESTING THE HOUSING AND
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE OF PALM BEACH COUNTY TO DE-
MOLISH SAID HOUSES WITH FUNDS MADE AVAILABLE TO IT, AT NO
COST TO THE CITY NOR TO THE RESPECTIVE PROPERTY O$-~NERS.
WHEREAS, there exists within the City of Delray Beach unsafe
vacant houses which must be demolished and their very existence consti-
tutes an emergency because they constitute a potential fire hazard and a
hazard to children playing in the neighborhood; and,
WHEREAS, funds have been made available by the Federal Government
and other sources to Palm Beach County to be administered by the Housing
and Community Development Office to demolish unsafe houses in the Cities
within Palm Beach County, without cost to the Cities and the respective
property owners; and,
WHEREAS, the said Housing and Community Development Office has
restricted its said demolition action in Delray Beach, Florida, to a
target area which lies north of West Atlantic Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, the said Housing and Community Development Office will
demolish houses outside of its present target area in Delray Beach, if the
demolition of said houses constitutes an emergency as found and declared
by the City Council of the City of Delray Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach,
after being duly advised by its Building Department and Police Department,
hereby finds and declares that an emergency exists with respect to the
following unsafe houses (identified by street address) within the City of
Delray Beach, in that the the houses have been determined by the City
Building Department to be beyond repair and constitute a fire hazard, and
are thereby extremely dangerous to life and property within the community:

Section 2. That the Housing and Community Development Office of
Palm Beach County, Florida, is hereby requested to extend its services and
the use of moneys made available to it, by the Federal Government and
other sources to demolish the unsafe houses referred to above, even though
some of them are outside of its present target area for the City of Delray
Beach, Florida, at no cost to the City nor to the respective property
owners.
Section 3. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to forward a certified copy of this resolution to John Greene, Director of
the Housing and Community Development Office, 801 Evernia Street, West
Palm Beach, Florida, 33401.
Section 4. That this resolution shall become effective immedi-
ately upon its passage.
