Res 64-79 RESOLUTION NO. 64-79 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING OF A REVISION IN THE EXISTING 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON CONGRESS AVENUE FROM LAKE IDA ROAD NORTHWARD TO THE CITY LIMIT. WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Manager that the Council approve of a revision in the existing 50 mph speed limit on Congress Avenue in the area indicated above. WHEREAS, Palm Beach County Traffic Division' has completed a speed study on Congress Avenue in the above-mentioned area to determine if a revision in the existing 50 mph speed limit is warranted. WHEREAS, pursUant to the traffic study, Palm Beach County Traffic Division recommended a speed limit ~f 45 mph and since a portion of Con- gress Avenue is within the City Limits of Delray Beach, it was requested that Council approve said restriction by Resolution to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for approval. WHEREAS, it is the .Council's opinion that said speed limit revision in the subject area is desirable and in the best interest of both the County and the Municipality of Delray Beach to bring about uniform traffic control for the road and street system of Palm Beach County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the recommended speed limit of 45 mDh be instituted on Congress Avenue from Lake Ida Road northward to the City Limit line of Delray Beach; Palm Beach County, Florida.
