Res 28-78 RESOLUTION NO. 28-78 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE MAJOR AIRLINES WHICH SERVE WEST PALM BEACH PROVIDE AIR SERVICE BETWEEN WEST PALM BEACH AND ORLANDO; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the three major airlines which serve West Palm Beach, namely Delta, Eastern and National, no longer provide air service between West Palm Beach and Orlando; and, WHEREAS, these three major airlines overfly Orlando many times each day; and, WHEREAS, Orlando is now a favorite convention center centrally located in the State of Florida; and, WHEREAS, the major airlines have asked for and generously received the support of the City in the past in their applications to the Civil Aeronautics Board for new flights, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach recognizes the need for air service between West Palm Beach and Orlando and thus requests the three major airlines which serve West Palm Beach, namely Delta, Eastern and National, to provide air service between West Palm Beach and Orlando. ' ~ Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach requests the Civil Aeronautics Board and the Congressional Representatives to support this request for air service between West Palm Beach and Orlando. Section 3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Civil Aeronautics Board and to the Congressional Representatives, the Honorable Lawton Chiles, Honorable Richard Stone and Honorable Paul G.
