A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY
CO~ISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF PALM BEACH, THE PALM
BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND THE BETHESDA MEMORIAL
HOSPITAL REDUCE MILLAGE RATES TO THE EXTENT NECESSARY
TO OFFSET INCREASED REVENUE RESULTING FROM THE INCREASE
IN THE ASSESSED VALUATION FOR 1978, BY ADOPTING BUDGETS
LESS THAN THE COUNTY PROPERTY APPRAISER'S CERTIFIED
MILLAGE FOR 1978.
WHEREAS, the 1978 assessed valuation of property in the City of Delray
!Beach, before new construction value, increased 13.86%; ~and,
WHEREAS, to retain the same millage rate, as in 1977, would unjustifi-
!ably increase taxable revenue as a result of said increased assessed valu-
iation; and,
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Delray Beach to reduce the
iCity's millage to offset increased revenue resulting from said 1978
increased assessed valuation; and,
WHEREAS, the tax rate in the City Manager's proposed budget for the
ilCity of Delray Beach is less than the County Property Appraiser's certified
imillage for 1978,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
!DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
~i Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach hereby
~!requests that the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, the
iiPalm Beach County School Board and the Bethesda Hospital do likewise in
~iorder to offset the effect of said increased assessed valuation by adopting
i!budgets with tax rates less than the County Property Appraiser's certified
imillage for 1978.
. Section 2. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
!mail a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of County Commissioners
'!of Palm Beach County, the Palm Beach County School Board and the Bethesda
iMemorial Hospital.
